Melanie Eclare came to gardening photography through a true working knowledge of the soil. Her passion for gardening photography was fuelled in 1994 when she won a Merlin Trust Scholarship from Valerie Finnis, the esteemed horticultural authority and wife of Sir Peter Scott. Since then Melanie has written and photographed innumerable articles in the world's gardening and lifestyle press, including HOUSE and GARDEN, GARDENS ILLUSTRATED, the SUNDAY TELEGRAPH and COUNTRY LIFE. Several adult gardening books followed and now Melanie is gardening editor of RED magazine. Somehow in the midst of all this she is married to Tom Petherick, the horticulturalist, and they are now the proud parents of a beautiful daughter, Rose. They live in a wonderful fold of chalk hills in Wiltshire, England.
